The River Swale is know as the fastest flowing river in England. The speed and voracity of it's flow has helped shape the Swaledale landscape over many years. This is particularly evident at Kisdon Force, a series of falls in which the Swale passes over the sandstone and limestone rocks. This region is known as the Kisdon Gorge.
